The Piraka were originally members of the mercenary group known as the Dark Hunters before splitting off and learning about a mask known as the Kanohi Ignika, the Mask of Life. The most powerful Kanohi in existence, the Piraka want to obtain it any way possible. They went to the floating island of Voya Nui to retrieve it, enslaving the Matoran inhabitants. At the point they were brought to Vertere, they were close to reaching the Mask's chambers.

They now reside in the city's industrial district, in one of the largest warehouses there. There is enough room for an armory, a workshop, a training room, and interogation chamber, and various other... amenities. One of the six Piraka is almost always patrolling inside the warehouse on a walkway, and Avak is attempting to recreate their automated Nektann defense turrets to position around the warehouse, but he's making little progress.

The word "piraka" translates roughly to "thief and murdurer." As Vezok put it; "A common thief might sneak into a village to steal something of value - a Piraka would set the whole village ablaze to cover up his theft. A robber would normally make an effort to slip in and out unnoticed - a Piraka would destroy whatever or whoever was in sight, purely out of spite."



Zaktan: The green Piraka is smart. Actually intelligent to the point that it's scary. The coldest and most cunning of the group, he is their leader by the fact that he can stomp any of the other gang members into the ground. And while scarily smart, he is increadibly detatched. He has no idea that the rest of the Piraka are plotting, but then, he doesn't care. His goals are simple. To get what he wants, no matter what. And on an off note, Zaktan is made up of billions upon billions of microscopic rahi called Protodites. Each contains a part of his conciousness.
-Weapon: Double claw/blade, bladed half can split into three baldes; Zamor Launcher
--Vision Power: Laser vision
---Special Power: Body is made up of microscopic rahi called Protodies, and thus can "shapeshift" to an extent and let his body parts function independently.

Reidak: Considered by the group to be the dumbest out of all of them, he really isn't. While as smart as any of the other Piraka, he simply prefers destroying whatever's in the way in place of sneaking around and planning things out. That said, he is physically the strongest of the group, and has a bit of an obsession with smashing things. It drives Avak mad since his equipment is usually the first thing smashed. And to top it all off, he's ill-at-ease to the point where he will get infuriated if he's not doing something.
-Weapon: Double buzzsaw/drill, drill capabable of turning whatever it comes in contact with into a kind of "quicksand;" Zamor Launcher
--Vision Power: Thermal optic and Infrared vision
---Special Power: Able to adapt after every defeat, meaning he grows stronger whenever he is beaten, and can not be beaten the same way twice.

Thok: Of all the Piraka, Thok schemes the most. He has a deal with all the other five to make sure that he will get the Ignika, no matter what. That said, he's the loner of the group, growing more angry and unpredictable the
longer he's around anyone else. Because of this, if things go wrong, he's quick to turn tail and run, so as to save his own hide.
-Weapon: Double ice shooter/ice pick, the shooter firing ice that will freeze it's target in a block of ice, the pick able to freeze on contact; Zamor Launcher
--Vision Power: Spellbinder vision; disorients it's target to the point where the world seems to spin around them.
---Special Power: Able to bring inatimate objects to life to serve him; i.e.: causing hands made of whatever the ground is to spring up.

Vezok: There are a few simple things to know about the blue Piraka. One, he is completely and utterly paranoid, though he does not look over his shoulder or anything. He just thinks the others are out to get him. And he's basically right. From there, he is also considered the nastiest of the group, since he keeps any and all emotions bottled up. Which leads to the final thing. He's largely emotionless in how he acts, as, as stated, he keeps things bottled up. On top of it all, of the group he can only tolerate Reidak, and he hates Hakann with a passion.
-Weapon: Double speargun/buzzsaw, speargun spear teathered to weapon when fired, buzzsaw capable of firing water daggers; Zamor Launcher
--Vision Power: Impact vision, effectively makes it feel like you've been hit with a sledgehammer.
---Special Power: Able to absorb any non-physical attacks used against him and store them for later use, so long as he chooses to.

Hakann: To put it simply, Hakann has a big ego. A REALLY big ego, and the rest of the Piraka despise him for that. He is in fact, waiting for an opportunity to kill Zaktan and take over as the leader of the gang. Overall, he has the biggest perchant for betrayal out of all the Piraka, as he's effectively sealed the fate of the other five, as well as his own.
-Weapon: Double claw/lava shooter, lava shooter fires "missiles" of lava; Zamor Launcher
--Vision Power: Heat Vision, heats up and quickly melts whatever it comes into contact with.
---Speical Power: Mental Blast, causes the target(s) to experience extreme pain by attacking the brain directly.

Avak: The gang's weapons engineer and resident gear-head. He can create a weapon or tool out of just about anything mechanical. That said... he's trigger happy. So it's a bad thing his weapon can fire blasts off from it's jackhammer portion. Formerly a jailer, his greatest power is the ability to create a prision out of thin-air that counters the target's powers. Which is good for him, since he's utterly horrible at hand-to-hand combat. He can't do much of anything without a weapon in either hand.
-Weapon: Double jackhammer/seismic pickax, jackhammer capable of firing off blasts of destructive energy; Zamor Launcher
--Vision Power: X-ray and Telescopic vision
---Special Power: Able to create a prision out of thin-air that counters the target's powers. Prision will disappear if Avak loses proper focus or is knocked out.
